We are going out to dinner tonight. We go every Friday night, providing that there is enough money after grocery shopping.
Tonight we are going to Swami's Cafe, cute little diner/vegetarian/neighborhood place. We went a few weeks ago. I ordered a protein veggie wrap. It seemed safest. Tofu, feta cheese, broccoli, other vegetables. It was not that good to be honest. The broccoli was raw, it just didn't feel satisfying. I stuck to safe foods and it just wasn't satisfying. I learned my lesson.
So tonight I'm ordering something that taste-wise I know ill enjoy. Tofu stir fry!! It's healthy but not quite as safe as the wrap, and it comes with rice, which is harder to measure than a wrap or bread. I've gotten stuck measuring everything I eat. If I can't measure my food it creates enormous anxiety... Something I definitely want to work on. Flexibility. Not measuring... Measuring cups have become a crutch and once I get past this rough patch with eating I will work to not measure my food, to estimate.
Basically what I want everyone to know is that it's ok to pick the food that sounds tastiest! It's better to enjoy your food than eat the healthiest choice and be unhappy and unsatisfied. And stay away from the calorie counts online and on chain restaurant menus. It really ruins the food!!! Yes restaurant meals are going to have more calories but all foods and meals can fit into a healthy diet I think. The restaurant tonight has no calorie counts. All I can do is guess. And that is challenging but ultimately healthier than going to a restaurant and ordering the food with the lowest calorie counts.
Hoping dinner tastes good. What are your favorite dinners?
