When we get kittens at our adoption site I feel good because I KNOW they will be adopted. Kittens are little and cute and who doesn't want that? They are absolutely adorable, and everyone agrees, and they generally get homes rather quickly. Then there are the adult cats, and they just don't find homes as quickly no matter how sweet and beautiful they are. Every time I work with the kitties it breaks my heart that they are in cages and not in a loving home.
Right now we have a kitty named Cleo who is so scared. She had an owner for ten years, and recently her owner decided she didn't want Cleo anymore. Well Cleo is completely traimatized. We can't get near her. She hisses and growls and snarls and is so sad and miserable. We have to wear enormous gloves just to change out her food and water. It makes me so sad that this sweet kitty was abandoned. I wish I could take her home but I can't right now. Id take Cleo home in a heartbeat and wait for her to feel safe, if I could.
If you are thinking of adding a furry friend to your family find one who really needs a home. Always always rescue and adopt a fuzzy friend who is in need of a forever family. There are so so many animals who need love and care. You can save a life.
